Who wrote 'We'll Meet Again' – and what'south the story behind the Vera Lynn song?

Originally released in 1939, 'We'll Run across Again' is a British song composed by Ross Parker and Hughie Charles, and sung by Matriarch Vera Lynn.

Who was Matriarch Vera Lynn, and how old was the wartime vocalist?

Born on 20 March 1917 in Eastward Ham, London, Dame Vera Lynn lived with her mother Annie, a dressmaker, and her father Bertram, a plumber.

By the historic period of seven, the talented entertainer had started singing in working men's clubs and became the family unit'southward primary breadwinner, before adopting her grandmother'south maiden name 'Lynn' every bit her phase proper name aged 11.
